Eleni Sourani joined the diplomatic services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1984. Since then, she served at different positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Athens and to different Diplomatic Missions of Greece abroad:
Attaché at the Middle East Directorate, Third Secretary at the Office of the Secretary-General, Second Secretary and Consul of Greece in Vancouver (Canada), First Secretary and Second Counselor at the Directorate of Security & NATO, First Counselor at the Embassy of Greece in Yerevan (Armenia), Consul General of Greece in Jerusalem, Deputy Head of Russia & CIS Department, Director of the Diplomatic Cabinet of the Deputy Foreign Minister, Minister Plenipotentiary and Deputy Permanent Representative to the OSCE (Vienna), Director of Arab Countries & Middle East Directorate, Ambassador of Greece to Denmark (2013-2016).
She has been awarded with the Grand Officer, Order of Phoenix (Greece), Grand Officer, Order of the Ciders (Lebanon), Grand Cross of the Greek - Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Grand Cross of the Order of Dannebrog (Denmark).
She was born in Thessaloniki and is graduated in Law studies by the University of Athens.
She is married and is mother of a son.
